Gibson rumored to be aquired by Peavey?

that seems to be the rumor du jour on the block right now. i’ve been hearing it from a lot of my good friends in the MI field.

out of any company to buy them, peavey seems like they would really be a great fit as most of the stuff people have been bitching about in regards to gibson.. well peavey solved those problems years ago. they seem to be able to crank out high quality stuff for good prices at a consistent quality level thats frankly envious in this day. thats a damn sight better forecast than the company reduced to a market brand, or god forbid taken apart for its pieces and sold wholesale. there is too much heritage of american musical instrument manufacturing in that company to let it fade away. dont think it could happen? remember when mannys went out of business after decades in business in NYC?

also in the plus corner. its not like some huge conglomerate like AMF/Harley Davidson debacle. (remember boycott coors, non pasterurised, non union bumper stickers? that was the era..) peavey is a solidly american company rooted right to the ground in manufacturing music gear. thats pretty damn cool.

in addition to a lot of other BIG manufacturers whos name i wont mention, but was started by a genius engineer in fullerton… have been rumored to be teetering on the brink. well i’ve heard that rumor a few times over the years.

i dunno, if its the truth, and its real, and happening.. good luck to hartley peavey and his new company. this NAMM will be a damn interesting one for sure.
